Birthplace: Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez. Quique Lee began his artistic journey in the late 1980s, initially focusing on literature while also experimenting with plastic arts, installation, and performance. During this time, he studied under Guatemalan/American artist Daniel Schafer.
After completing a course in Marketing, Lee ventured into fashion design as a mode of expression. Since 2011, his work has concentrated on the use of fabric, strings, and embroidery.

Description
Guatemalan artist Quique Lee's art piece was inspired by the backstrap loom used by the Maya indigenous weavers. "Telar oxidado" was made with cotton gauze and hemp dyed with iron oxide and eucalyptus and nails.
