Our Call for Artists 2023

In 2023, Friends of the Ixchel Museum launched the Instagram Challenge, where artists from around the world were invited to submit works inspired by Mayan textile traditions.

We received 60 eligible submissions — a response that exceeded our expectations. The diversity and outstanding quality of the artwork underscored the enduring influence of Guatemala’s textile heritage and its ability to transcend fabric as a medium.
